Ubbo Emmius (1547-1625), the founder and first Chancellor of the University of Groningen, passed away 400 years ago, on the 9th December 1625. To commemorate the quatercentenary of his death, the Special Collections department of the University of Groningen Library is making the 72 letters of Ubbo Emmius that are part of her collection available as an Linked Open Data dataset, including images and transcripts.

These letters are the most personal of the documents Ubbo Emmius bequeathed to the library. They show what motivated him, occupied him and give us an insight into his extensive network.
